Dr. Hui Chen is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of South Carolina. He earned his PhD in experimental medicine, with a specialization in brain tumors and neuroinflammation, from McGill University and the Montreal Neurological Institute. He subsequently completed postdoctoral training in genome research and the cell biology of early embryonic development at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Chen’s research focuses on uncovering novel principles of genome regulation and size control in development and disease. Using model embryonic systems, he investigates the mechanisms governing genome activation and cell fate transitions during early development. His work also explores how alterations in cell and organelle size influence physiological processes and contribute to pathological conditions.
