Energy Conversion
Energy is everywhere, constantly changing from one form to another. This process is called energy conversion.
When you eat food, your body takes the chemical energy stored in it and changes it into different types of energy.
Some of this energy becomes kinetic energy, which helps you move, run, and play, while some turns into thermal energy, keeping your body warm.
A car engine also works based on energy conversion. Gasoline holds chemical energy, which, when burned in an engine, changes into mechanical energy to move the wheels.
Some energy also turns into heat, warming the engine, and sound, which you hear.
Another example is turning on a light. When you flip a switch, electrical energy changes into light energy.
Some of this energy turns into heat, so bulbs feel warm. Toasters do the same. They take in electrical energy and turn it into heat, toasting your bread.
All these changes follow the law of conservation of energy. This law states that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It transforms from one form to another.
