Cuvette Preparation

Cuvette preparation is the process of selecting, cleaning, filling, and positioning a cuvette for chemical measurements, especially spectrophotometric analysis. A cuvette holds a sample in a defined optical path, allowing light to pass through the solution while the instrument measures absorbance or transmission; careful rinsing, consistent filling, and removal of bubbles help prevent scattering and contamination. Proper preparation includes matching the cuvette material to the solvent, avoiding fingerprints on optical faces, and orienting the cuvette consistently in the instrument. These practices improve measurement accuracy, precision, and reproducibility in quantitative chemistry, including concentration determination and reaction monitoring.
