Blood Investigations

Blood investigations are laboratory tests that analyze blood cells, proteins, chemicals, and other components to assess health and detect disease. They typically involve collecting a blood sample, separating or preparing its components, and applying methods such as cell counting, biochemical analysis, coagulation testing, or immunoassays to identify measurable changes. In clinical practice, these investigations support diagnosis, help evaluate organ function, assess infection, anemia, inflammation, or bleeding disorders, and monitor responses to treatment. Interpreting results alongside symptoms and medical history enables clinicians to make informed decisions and track changes in a patient’s condition over time.

The exploration of cellular behavior under mechanical stress is pivotal for advances in cellular mechanics and mechanobiology. We introduce the Fluorescence Micropipette Aspiration (fMPA) technique, a novel method combining controlled mechanical stimulation with comprehensive analysis of intracellular signaling in single cells. This technique investigates new in-depth studies of live-cell mechanobiology.

Source: Kay Stewart, RVT, RLATG, CMAR; Valerie A. Schroeder, RVT, RLATG. University of Notre Dame, IN The collection of blood from mice and rats for analysis can be done through a variety of methods. Each method of collection has variations in the type of restraint required, the invasiveness of the procedure, and the necessity of a general anesthetic.1Historically, the use of the retro-orbital sinus cavity has been used, but not without debate. The controversy related to the potential tissue...
