Functional Health Patterns

Functional Health Patterns is a structured nursing assessment framework that organizes information about a person’s health, functioning, and responses to illness, supporting comprehensive clinical judgment. Developed around 11 interrelated patterns, it guides collection of subjective and objective data on areas such as health perception, nutrition, elimination, activity, sleep, cognition, coping, and relationships; clinicians compare these findings with the patient’s baseline and current condition to identify meaningful variations. In clinical practice, the framework helps nurses recognize actual or potential problems, formulate individualized nursing diagnoses, prioritize care, and evaluate outcomes. It also promotes consistent communication and a holistic view of patients across healthcare settings.

Assessment of the Gastrointestinal System II: Health Perception Pattern

2025

Assessing the gastrointestinal (GI) system is a complex process that begins with collecting subjective data. This data, collected through patient interviews, provides crucial insights into the patient's health history, perception patterns, and lifestyle habits, all contributing significantly to GI health. Health Perception Patterns Health perception patterns offer valuable insights into a patient's lifestyle habits and how they may impact their GI health. These patterns include: Health...

2011

Here we describe a simple method for patterning oxide-free silicon and germanium with reactive organic monolayers and demonstrate functionalization of the patterned substrates with small molecules and proteins. The approach completely protects surfaces from chemical oxidation, provides precise control over feature morphology, and provides ready access to chemically discriminated patterns.

Nanomoulding of Functional Materials, a Versatile Complementary Pattern Replication Method to Nanoimprinting
