Nuclei Distribution

Nuclei distribution describes the spatial arrangement, density, and positioning of cell nuclei within a cell, tissue, or developing organism, making it an important indicator of cellular organization and developmental state. It arises through coordinated nuclear movement, cell division, cytoskeletal transport, and tissue growth, while signaling pathways and mechanical forces help establish and maintain appropriate positions. In developmental biology, analyzing nuclei distribution reveals how embryos pattern tissues, coordinate morphogenesis, and transition from shared or syncytial cytoplasm to distinct cells. Imaging and quantitative analysis of nuclear spacing and number can connect cellular behaviors with tissue architecture, developmental defects, and mechanisms of organ formation.

Atomic Nuclei: Nuclear Spin State Population Distribution

2024

Near absolute zero temperatures, in the presence of a magnetic field, the majority of nuclei prefer the lower energy spin-up state to the higher energy spin-down state. As temperatures increase, the energy from thermal collisions distributes the spins more equally between the two states. The Boltzmann distribution equation gives the ratio of the number of spins predicted in the spin −½ (N−) and spin +½ (N+) states. Here, ΔE is the energy difference between the states, k is the Boltzmann...

This video describes the protocol to isolate single-nuclei from fresh frozen glioma tissue. The isolated single-nuclei can be used as specimens for sequencing techniques such as single-nuclei RNA (snRNA) sequencing and single-nuclei Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin (snATAC) sequencing to obtain deeper insights into inter- and intra-tumor heterogeneity observed in glioma of the central nervous tissues.
