Automatic Generation Control

Automatic Generation Control is a real-time power-system control function that maintains the balance between electricity generation and demand while supporting stable system frequency. It uses measurements of frequency, power flows, and scheduled interchange to calculate an area control error, then sends corrective signals to participating generators, which adjust output through turbine-governor and excitation systems. In engineering practice, AGC coordinates generating units across interconnected control areas, compensates for load changes and renewable-power variability, and helps maintain reliable grid operation. Its performance influences frequency regulation, tie-line stability, operating efficiency, and the integration of variable energy resources.

Automatic Processing and Automatic Social Behavior

2025

Automatic processing refers to the cognitive operations that occur without conscious intent or awareness, playing a fundamental role in shaping social cognition and behavior. These processes enable individuals to navigate complex social environments efficiently by relying on mental shortcuts and pre-existing knowledge structures known as schemas. One of the most influential mechanisms underlying automatic processing is priming, which subtly activates mental representations through exposure to...

Generator Voltage Control

2024

Generator voltage control is crucial for maintaining the stable operation of synchronous generators and wind turbines. In older models, a DC generator driven by the rotor delivers DC power to the rotor's field winding, and the power is transferred through slip rings and brushes. In the latest models, static or brushless exciters are used. Static exciters rectify AC power from the generator terminals and then transfer the DC power directly to the rotor. Brushless exciters, on the other hand, use...

The rectification of ion transport pathways is an effective method to generate one-directional ion-dragged electrohydrodynamic flows. By setting an ion-exchange membrane in a flow channel, an electrically polarized condition is generated and causes a liquid flow to be driven when an electric field is externally applied.
