Sev Isolation

SEV isolation is an engineering approach for separating a high-severity event, fault, or affected subsystem from surrounding operations to limit propagation and preserve system function. It works by detecting abnormal conditions, identifying the affected boundary, and activating physical, electrical, or software-based barriers that interrupt relevant energy, signals, flows, or dependencies. Engineers apply SEV isolation in safety-critical systems, industrial equipment, and complex infrastructure to contain failures, reduce cascading damage, and support controlled recovery. Effective isolation depends on rapid detection, clearly defined interfaces, fail-safe design, and verification under representative operating conditions, making it an important principle for system resilience and risk management.

We describe the isolation of cardiac extracellular matrix from C57Bl/6J control mice, tight-skin mice, and tight-skin mice treated with the IRF5 inhibitory peptide. We also describe the vasodilation studies on the isolated vessels from C57Bl/6J, tight-skin mice and tight-skin mice treated with the IRF5 inhibitory peptide.

Neutrophils are among the first cells to arrive on the site of inflammatory immune response, and their functions and mechanisms have been studied extensively in vitro. We demonstrate a standard density gradient separation method to isolate human neutrophils from whole blood using commercially available separation media.

Mitochondrial Isolation: A Technique to Isolate Mitochondria from Human Ovarian Cancer Tissue Sample

Isolating Nucleic Acids from Yeast

2023

One of the many advantages to using yeast as a model system is that large quantities of biomacromolecules, including nucleic acids (DNA and RNA), can be purified from the cultured cells. This video will address the steps required to carry out nucleic acid extraction. We will begin by briefly outlining the growth and harvest, and lysis of yeast cells, which are the initial steps common to the isolation of all biomacromolecules. Next, we will discuss two unique purification methods for the...
