Endometriosis Risk

Endometriosis risk refers to the likelihood that a person may develop endometriosis, a chronic condition in which tissue resembling the uterine lining grows outside the uterus and can cause pelvic pain, infertility, and inflammation. Its development likely involves multiple interacting factors, including family history, hormonal exposure, immune responses, and the movement of menstrual tissue through the fallopian tubes into the pelvic cavity, where estrogen can support lesion growth. Understanding these risk factors helps clinicians identify people who may benefit from earlier evaluation and symptom management. Risk assessment also supports research into prevention, diagnosis, and treatments for this often underrecognized condition.
