In Vivo Tumor Tracking

In vivo tumor tracking is the monitoring of tumor location, growth, and behavior within a living organism, providing a dynamic view of cancer progression that cannot be captured from isolated tissue alone. Researchers track tumors using imaging approaches such as bioluminescence, fluorescence, magnetic resonance imaging, or positron emission tomography, often by detecting tumor-associated signals or contrast agents repeatedly over time. This longitudinal approach supports studies of tumor development, metastasis, treatment response, and recurrence while reducing reliance on endpoint tissue collection. In medicine, in vivo tumor tracking helps connect imaging findings with underlying biology and informs the evaluation of emerging diagnostics and therapies.

An In Vivo Technique to Track Bispecific Antibody-Induced T Cell Trafficking to Tumors

2025

This video demonstrates a method for tracking bispecific antibody-induced T cell trafficking to tumors in a mouse model. Luciferase-transduced effector T cells are injected into a mouse with a subcutaneous tumor cell xenograft. Bispecific antibodies are then introduced, binding to T cells and the tumor cells. The localization of the T cells is tracked using bioluminescent imaging, with the magnitude of the signal indicating the extent of T cell infiltration into the tumor.

Stereotactic ablative body radiation therapy (SBRT) involves the precise delivery of high-dose radiation to cancer tumor targets. A novel SBRT platform offers a first-of-its-kind gimbaled radiation accelerator mounted within a pivoting O-ring gantry capable of dynamic image-guided tumor tracking. Here, we describe dynamic tumor tracking for lung targets.

Plant viral nanoparticles (VNPs) are promising platforms for applications in biomedicine. Here, we describe the procedures for plant VNP propagation, purification, characterization, and bioconjugation. Finally, we show the application of VNPs for tumor homing and imaging using a mouse xenograft model and fluorescence imaging.
