T Test

A t test is a statistical method used to determine whether the means of two groups, or a sample and a reference value, differ more than expected from random variation. It calculates a t statistic by comparing the observed mean difference with its estimated standard error, then uses a t distribution to assess statistical significance, accounting for sample size and degrees of freedom. In psychology, independent-samples, paired-samples, and one-sample t tests can evaluate differences in behavior, attitudes, or treatment outcomes. These tests support evidence-based interpretation of experiments and surveys, provided assumptions such as independent observations and appropriate data distributions are considered.

2023

The protocol summarizes the best practices to minimize microbial bioburden in a cleanroom environment and includes strategies such as environmental monitoring, process monitoring, and product sterility testing. It is relevant for manufacturing and testing facilities that are required to meet current good tissue practice standards and current good manufacturing practice standards.

Synthesis of Keratin-based Nanofiber for Biomedical Engineering

Electrospun nanofibers have a high surface area to weight ratio, excellent mechanical integrity, and support cell growth and proliferation. These nanofibers have a wide range of biomedical applications. Here we fabricate keratin/ PCL nanofibers, using the electrospinning technique, and characterize the fibers for possible applications in tissue engineering.

Here, we present a protocol to use a curvelet transform-based, open-source MATLAB software tool for quantifying fibrillar collagen organization in the extracellular matrix of both normal and diseased tissues. This tool can be applied to images with collagen fibers or other types of line-like structures.

Sieving Fruit Pulp to Detect Immature Tephritid Fruit Flies in the Field

2023

Increasing the detection of immature tephritid fruit flies in the field can trigger timely efforts to eliminate populations of these destructive pests. Detecting late instar larvae is faster and more accurate when mushing host fruit in a bag and passing the pulp through a series of sieves than hand cutting and visual inspection.

Subsurface Defect Localization by Structured Heating Using Laser Projected Photothermal Thermography

This method aims at locating vertical subsurface defects. Here, we couple a laser with a spatial light modulator and trigger its video input to heat a sample surface deterministically with two anti-phased modulated lines while acquiring highly resolved thermal images. The defect position is retrieved from evaluating thermal wave interference minima.
