Behavioral finance emphasizes the impact of psychological factors on financial decisions.

The key concepts include heuristics or mental shortcuts for quick decisions, biases like confirmation bias and loss aversion, framing effects, and the role of emotions during market events.

Heuristics like overconfidence, anchoring, and availability significantly impact investors' decision-making.

Biases also play a role in decision-making. For instance, confirmation bias leads people to seek and favor information that supports their beliefs, while loss aversion causes them to fear losses more than they value gains.

Framing describes how information is presented and influences decision-making.

Investors are more likely to take risks when outcomes are framed as gains rather than losses, even if the underlying facts remain unchanged.

Emotions significantly impact financial decisions, particularly during market bubbles and crashes.

For instance, excessive optimism and herd behavior contributed to the overvaluation of tech stocks during the dot-com bubble.

Recognizing these tendencies helps investors make informed decisions and improve overall financial outcomes.
