Energy-requiring Steps of Glycolysis

Faza energetyzacyjna jest pierwszą fazą glikolizy. Gdy glukoza dostaje się do komórki, enzym heksokinaza przenosi grupę fosforanową z cząsteczki ATP do cukru 6-węglowego, aby wytworzyć 6-fosforan glukozy, który zostaje uwięziony w komórce z powodu ładunku ujemnego.
Następnie enzym izomeraza fosfogirazy katalizuje przemianę fosfoglukozy w jeden z jej izomerów, 6-fosforan fruktozy.
Fosfofruktoza może być teraz fosforylowana przez enzym ograniczający szybkość, fosfofruktokinazę, w celu wytworzenia 1,6-bisfosforanu fruktozy.

Glukoza jest źródłem niemal całej energii wykorzystywanej przez organizmy. Pierwszy etap przekształcania glukozy w użyteczną energię nazywa się glikolizą. Glikoliza zachodzi w cytozolu komórki w dwóch fazach: fazie wymagającej energii i fazie uwalniającej energię. W pierwszych trzech etapach glukoza jest przekształcana w różne formy i przyłączana do dwóch grup fosforanowych oddanych przez dwie cząsteczki ATP, w wyniku czego powstaje niestabilny cukier. W kolejnych dwóch etapach niestabilny cukier rozkłada się na dwa izomery cukru, które albo są przekształcane, albo wykorzystywane bezpośrednio w następnej fazie glikolizy.

<h4>Proces</h4>

Najpierw glukoza ulega fosforylacji poprzez dodanie grupy fosforanowej z ATP, przekształcając ją w bardziej reaktywną formę (glukozo-6-fosforan). Ujemnie naładowany fosforan nie może przejść przez hydrofobową błonę komórkową, więc dodanie grupy fosforanowej zatrzymuje glukozę wewnątrz komórki.

Następnie glukozo-6-fosforan przekształca się w jeden z jego izomerów (fruktozo-6-fosforan), który jest niezbędny w kolejnych energochłonnych etapach glikolizy.

Fruktozo-6-fosforan ulega fosforylacji poprzez dodanie grupy fosforanowej z drugiej cząsteczki ATP. To przekształca fruktozo-6-fosforan w fruktozo-1,6-bisfosforan, niestabilny cukier.

Ten niestabilny cukier dzieli się na dwa różne trójwęglowe izomery cukru: 3-fosforan aldehydu glicerynowego i DHAP. 3-fosforan aldehydu glicerynowego można bezpośrednio wykorzystać w kolejnym etapie glikolizy, natomiast DHAP przekształca się w 3-fosforan aldehydu gliceryny.

Glycolysis begins in the cytosol, where glucose is prepared for use as energy. This process has two phases: an energy-requiring phase and an energy-releasing phase. The first phase changes glucose into a more reactive, unstable form before it can move into later steps.

In the first step, glucose is phosphorylated, which means a phosphate group is added from ATP. This produces glucose 6-phosphate. The added phosphate is negatively charged, so it cannot cross the hydrophobic cell membrane. As a result, glucose is trapped inside the cell.

Next, glucose 6-phosphate is converted into its isomer, fructose 6-phosphate. An isomer is a molecule with the same atoms but a different arrangement. Fructose 6-phosphate is needed for the remaining energy-requiring steps of glycolysis. It is then phosphorylated by a second ATP molecule, forming fructose 1,6-bisphosphate.

Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate is unstable and splits into two three-carbon sugar isomers. These are glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and DHAP. Glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate can go straight into the next phase of glycolysis. DHAP is converted into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate before continuing.
