Fluorescent Nanoemulsion

Fluorescent nanoemulsions are nanoscale dispersions of immiscible liquids that contain fluorescent molecules, combining optical detectability with the tunable interfacial properties of emulsion droplets. They are formed by breaking one liquid into nanometer-sized droplets within another and stabilizing the interfaces with surfactants or related components; when illuminated at an excitation wavelength, the incorporated fluorophores emit detectable light. In bioengineering, these formulations can support cell and tissue imaging, tracer studies, and fluorescence-based biosensing while enabling researchers to adjust droplet composition, size, and surface chemistry. Their small dimensions and signal-producing cargo also make them useful for studying transport, delivery, and interactions at biological interfaces.
