Prostate Slicing Apparatus

The Prostate Slicing Apparatus is a specialized device for preparing consistent sections of prostate tissue, supporting controlled studies of normal and cancerous tissue architecture. It holds the specimen securely while guiding a blade through the tissue to produce slices with defined thickness and minimal deformation, helping preserve cellular organization and local interactions. In cancer research, these tissue slices provide an ex vivo model for examining tumor biology, treatment responses, drug penetration, and changes in the prostate microenvironment. Standardized slicing improves experimental reproducibility and can complement cell culture and animal models when evaluating disease mechanisms or therapeutic strategies.

Operant drug self-administration and conditioned place preference (CPP) procedures are expansively used in research to model various components of drug reinforcement, consumption, and addiction in humans. In this report, we combined traditional CPP and self-administration methods as a novel approach to studying drug reinforcement and addiction in rats.

Golgi Apparatus

Properly folded and assembled proteins are selectively packaged into vesicles that exit the ER. Motor proteins transport these vesicles to the Golgi apparatus for adding modifications that make these proteins functional at their destination. The Golgi apparatus is a eukaryotic organelle that has a distinctive ribbon-like appearance. It is a primary sorting and dispatch station for cargo arriving from the ER. Newly arriving vesicles enter the cis face of the Golgi, closest to the ER, and are...

As they leave the Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER), properly folded and assembled proteins are selectively packaged into vesicles. These vesicles are transported by microtubule-based motor proteins and fuse together to form vesicular tubular clusters, subsequently arriving at the Golgi apparatus, a eukaryotic endomembrane organelle that often has a distinctive ribbon-like appearance. The Golgi apparatus is a major sorting and dispatch station for the products of the ER. Newly arriving vesicles enter...
