Hydrodynamic Voltammetry

Hydrodynamic voltammetry is an electrochemical technique that measures current while a solution is deliberately moved past an electrode, allowing electron-transfer reactions to be studied under controlled mass transport. Convection, produced by rotating an electrode or flowing the solution, brings reactants to the electrode surface and removes products, establishing a diffusion layer whose thickness influences the limiting current. By relating current to rotation rate or flow conditions, researchers can distinguish kinetic and transport effects, estimate reaction rates, and characterize redox-active species. In analytical chemistry, the method supports quantitative detection, electrode evaluation, and investigation of catalytic or coupled electrochemical reactions.

Cyclic Voltammetry (CV)

2023

Source: Laboratory of Dr. Kayla Green — Texas Christian University A Cyclic Voltammetry (CV) experiment involves the scan of a range of potential voltages while measuring current. In the CV experiment, the potential of an immersed, stationary electrode is scanned from a predetermined starting potential to a final value (called the switching potential) and then the reverse scan is obtained. This gives a 'cyclic' sweep of potentials and the current vs. potential curve derived from the data is...

In this article, we present a microfluidic-based method for particle confinement based on hydrodynamic flow. We demonstrate stable particle trapping at a fluid stagnation point using a feedback control mechanism, thereby enabling confinement and micromanipulation of arbitrary particles in an integrated microdevice.

There has been renewed interest in developing polymer valves. Here, the objectives are to demonstrate the feasibility of modifying a commercial pulse duplicator to accommodate tri-leaflet geometries and to define a protocol to present polymer valve hydrodynamic data in comparison to native and prosthetic valve data collected under near-identical conditions.

Voltammetry: Overview

2024

Voltammetry is an electroanalytical technique in which the current flowing through an electrochemical cell is measured as a function of applied potential, typically under conditions of concentration polarization. The technique provides valuable information about redox-active species, and the current response is plotted as a voltammogram. A voltammetric cell uses three electrodes: a working electrode, a reference electrode, and an auxiliary electrode. The redox reactions occur in the working...
