Structural Parameter Analysis

Structural parameter analysis is a chemistry method for describing and interpreting the geometric features that define molecular, ionic, and crystalline structures. It examines quantities such as bond lengths, bond angles, dihedral angles, coordination numbers, and symmetry, using experimental measurements or computationally optimized coordinates to compare related structures. These parameters reveal changes in conformation, bonding, steric interactions, and local coordination environments. In molecular and materials chemistry, the analysis supports structure determination, validation of theoretical models, assessment of intermolecular interactions, and interpretation of how structural differences influence stability, reactivity, and physical properties.

We describe a correlative microscopy method that combines high-speed 3D live-cell fluorescent light microscopy and high-resolution cryo-electron tomography. We demonstrate the capability of the correlative method by imaging dynamic, small HIV-1 particles interacting with host HeLa cells.

Noncompartmental Analysis: Miscellaneous Pharmacokinetic Parameters

2025

The noncompartmental approach is a widely used method in pharmacokinetics to assess drugs' behaviors in the body. It considers several factors, including clearance, bioavailability, and total volume of distribution. One key aspect of the noncompartmental approach is determining a drug's total clearance. This can be done by dividing the drug dose by the area under the concentration-time curve from zero to infinity. The area under the concentration-time curve represents the drug's overall...

Co-analysis of Brain Structure and Function using fMRI and Diffusion-weighted Imaging

We describe a novel approach for simultaneous analysis of brain function and structure using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We assess brain structure with high-resolution diffusion-weighted imaging and white-matter fiber tractography. Unlike standard structural MRI, these techniques allow us to directly relate anatomical connectivity to functional properties of brain networks.

The Importance of Correct Protein Concentration for Kinetics and Affinity Determination in Structure-function Analysis

We apply label-free protein interaction analysis using Biacore X100 for structure-function analysis of the binding of several cystatin B mutants to papain through kinetic characterization. Calibration-free concentration analysis (CFCA) measures the concentration of protein with retained binding activity without the need for a standard curve. We show that confirmation of concentrations using CFCA increases the reliability of the kinetic analysis and that kinetic constants can reliably be...

Mapping Microglial Parameters Software (MMPS): An Open-Source, User-Friendly Tool for Quantitative Microglia Morphology Analysis

2026

Mapping Microglial Parameters Software (MMPS) is a user-friendly analysis pipeline that requires no coding expertise and semi-automates single-cell microglial morphology analysis from immunofluorescence images. Validated in a rodent lipopolysaccharide-induced neuroinflammation model, MMPS reproducibly detects activation-associated morphological changes and enables standardized, scalable microglial phenotyping.
