Wellness Fluctuation Patterns

Wellness fluctuation patterns describe recurring, intermittent, or irregular changes in a person’s physical, emotional, and functional well-being over time, providing context for clinical assessment. Clinicians and researchers identify these patterns by tracking measures such as symptoms, mood, sleep, energy, daily functioning, and relevant life or treatment conditions across repeated observations. Examining timing, frequency, intensity, and relationships among these measures can help distinguish short-term variation from persistent change. In clinical settings, this approach supports individualized monitoring, communication, treatment adjustment, and early recognition of meaningful shifts, while also strengthening research on how health outcomes develop and respond to interventions.

Seasonal Fluctuations

2026

Seasonal fluctuations refer to regular and predictable changes in economic activity that happen at specific times each year. These variations arise from recurring influences such as weather conditions, holidays, and institutional schedules. Unlike business cycles, which are irregular, seasonal fluctuations are predictable and happen every year.Weather patterns can affect the economy. Certain industries, such as agriculture and construction, tend to experience higher or lower activity during...

Fluorescence Fluctuation Spectroscopy to Study Protein Homo-Oligomerization

2025

This video demonstrates the technique of fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy (FFS) to study protein homo-oligomerization. Fluorescently-labeled proteins in a sample are dimerized using an agent when studying protein oligomerization using FFS. Using a confocal microscope, as the proteins move in and out of the small observation volume, the analysis of the fluctuations in the brightness of the fluorescent molecules is performed to determine the oligomeric state of the proteins.

Fluorescence Fluctuation Spectroscopy to Study Protein Interaction at Cell Contacts

2025

This video demonstrates the use of fluorescence fluctuation spectroscopy to detect the interaction among cell surface proteins at cell-cell contacts. By expressing the transmembrane adhesion receptor of interest labeled with a fluorescent protein and mixing two different cell populations harboring two spectrally separated fluorescent labels, the trans-interaction between the receptors of two neighboring cells with different-colored fluorescence is assessed via cross-correlation in the...

Here, a protocol is presented to perform a fluctuation assay and estimate microbial mutation rate using phenotypic markers. This protocol will enable researchers to assay mutations in diverse microbes and environments, determining how genotype and ecological context affect spontaneous mutation rates.

Multivariate techniques including principal component analysis (PCA) have been used to identify signature patterns of regional change in functional brain images. We have developed an algorithm to identify reproducible network biomarkers for the diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders, assessment of disease progression, and objective evaluation of treatment effects in patient populations.
