Embryo Collection Procedure

The embryo collection procedure is a method for recovering early-stage embryos from a donor organism so researchers can examine, culture, preserve, or transfer them. In developmental biology, collection typically involves accessing the reproductive tract at a defined developmental time, flushing or removing embryos under controlled conditions, and isolating them for microscopic assessment based on morphology and developmental stage. Careful handling helps maintain embryo viability and limits mechanical or environmental stress. The procedure supports studies of fertilization, cleavage, implantation, and early pattern formation, while enabling embryo culture, genetic analysis, cryopreservation, and the evaluation of reproductive or developmental interventions.

This video describes the technique of transferring embryos into the oviduct of a recipient female rabbit via Laparoscopy. It allows embryo remodeling in rabbits during its migration through the oviduct, eventually helping in successful implantation. This technique can also be used for stored embryos with good efficiency.
