Master Slave Operation

Master-slave operation is an engineering control architecture in which a primary device, or master, directs one or more secondary devices, called slaves, to coordinate their behavior. The master produces a reference command, while each slave uses control signals and feedback to track that command, maintain synchronization, and respond to changes in operating conditions. This arrangement supports coordinated motion, load sharing, and centralized supervision in applications such as motor drives, robotics, automated machinery, and distributed control systems. Understanding the communication, timing, and feedback between devices helps engineers improve precision, reliability, and scalability in complex systems.

Master Transcription Regulators

2020

Master transcription regulators are regulatory proteins that are predominantly responsible for regulating the expression of multiple genes. Often these genes work in concert to drive a complex process. Activation of a master transcription regulator can lead to a cascade of transcriptional activation necessary for that outcome. These regulators can directly bind to the regulatory sequences of the various genes involved, or they can indirectly regulate transcription by binding to regulatory...

Fabrication of a Master Mold for Microneedles with a Micron-sized Air-vent Hole

2025

This article introduces a unique method for fabricating master molds with an air-vent hole to prevent air entrapment during viscous polymer casting, enabling the fabrication of gelatin microneedles with sharp tips. By reducing the casting volume of high-viscosity gelatin, thin-walled hollow pyramidal microneedles could also be fabricated.

Operating the Glovebox

Robert M Rioux, Ajay Sathe, Zhifeng Chen, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA A glovebox is an isolated enclosure that is designed to maintain an inert atmosphere. The manipulation of chemicals or apparatus is done via the use of gloves, which allow operation while still maintaining an inert atmosphere. A positive pressure is utilized to compensate for any passive leaks. Objects can be transferred in and out of the box using an antechamber that acts as an airlock between the box...

Operant Sensation Seeking in the Mouse

In this protocol we describe a method of operant learning using sensory stimuli as a reinforcer in the mouse. It requires no prior training or food restriction, and it allows the study of motivated behavior without the use of a pharmacological or natural reinforcer such as food.
