Pdms Dielectric Layer

A PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane) dielectric layer is an electrically insulating, flexible film that separates conductive components while enabling controlled electric-field interactions in engineered devices. Its low electrical conductivity and dielectric polarization allow it to store charge, with capacitance determined by the material’s permittivity, layer thickness, and electrode geometry; fabrication conditions also influence uniformity and performance. Because PDMS is elastomeric, lightweight, and compatible with microfabrication, it serves as an insulating layer in capacitive sensors, microfluidic systems, flexible electronics, and soft actuators. Engineering its thickness and surface properties helps tune sensitivity, mechanical compliance, electrical isolation, and long-term device reliability.

The Effect of Anodization Parameters on the Aluminum Oxide Dielectric Layer of Thin-Film Transistors

2020

Anodization parameters for growth of the aluminum-oxide dielectric layer of zinc-oxide thin-film transistors (TFTs) are varied to determine the effects on the electrical parameter responses. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is applied to a Plackett-Burman design of experiments (DOE) to determine the manufacturing conditions that result in optimized device performance.

Capacitor With A Dielectric

2023

Parallel plate capacitors consist of two conducting plates separated by a certain distance. However, it is mechanically difficult to hold the large plates parallel to each other without actual contact. Hence, a dielectric layer is commonly placed between the plates, which provides an easy solution for holding the plates together with a small gap and increases the capacitance of the capacitor. Dielectrics are non-conducting materials with no free or loosely bound electrons. When a dielectric is...
