Matlab Functions

MATLAB Functions are reusable blocks of code that accept defined inputs, perform calculations, and return outputs, helping researchers organize analyses and reproduce computational workflows. Each function uses a declaration to specify its name, input arguments, and output values, while local variables and conditional or iterative operations control how data are processed. In immunology and infection research, functions can standardize flow-cytometry or microscopy measurements, quantify pathogen growth and immune-cell responses, transform cytokine datasets, and generate consistent visualizations across experiments. Modular functions also make complex models easier to test, adapt, and share when investigating host-pathogen interactions or evaluating experimental treatments.

This protocol presents PIPEMAT-RS, a standardized MATLAB-based preprocessing pipeline for resting-state EEG data. It ensures artifact removal, improves signal quality, and enhances data reproducibility across studies. The pipeline automates key preprocessing steps, including filtering, independent component analysis (ICA), and artifact classification, facilitating consistent and reliable EEG analysis for neurophysiological research.

Functional Groups

2020

Functional groups are a group of atoms with characteristic properties, which when linked to the carbon skeleton of a molecule, alter the properties of that molecule. For example, the presence of certain functional groups on a molecule will make them hydrophilic, whereas others will make them hydrophobic. These functional groups are an indispensable part of organic chemistry and important components of biological molecules, such as carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Each...
