Function Applications

Function applications in mathematics describe using a function to map an input from its domain to a corresponding output in its codomain, providing a precise way to represent relationships and change. To apply a function, substitute a valid input for the independent variable and follow the specified rule; functions can also be combined through composition, where the output of one becomes the input of another. This framework supports modeling rates, growth, costs, motion, and other quantitative relationships, while graphs and tables make resulting patterns easier to interpret. Understanding function applications helps students and researchers analyze transformations, build mathematical models, and evaluate how changes in one quantity affect another.

We present a protocol for the synthesis of RGD-functionalized hydrogels as devices for cell and drug delivery. The procedure involves copper catalyzed alkyne-azide cycloaddition (CuAAC) between alkyne-modified polyacrylic acid (PAA) and a RGD-azide derivative. The hydrogels are formed using microwave-assisted polycondensation and their physicochemical properties are investigated.

Applications of Integration to Probability Density Functions

2026

Continuous probability distributions are used to model random variables that can take on any real value within a specified range. These variables do not take on isolated or countable values but rather exist on a continuum. For example, the height of an individual can be measured with increasing precision—such as 163.5 or 165.25 centimeters—demonstrating that height is a continuous random variable. The behavior of such variables is described using a probability density function (PDF), which...
