Heart Tissue Slicing

Heart tissue slicing is a laboratory technique that cuts cardiac tissue into thin, consistent sections for examining the heart’s cellular organization, structure, and disease-related changes. During the process, tissue is stabilized and sectioned with a sharp blade or vibrating microtome, while controlled thickness and orientation help preserve relationships among cardiomyocytes, connective tissue, and blood vessels for imaging or analysis. In medicine and biomedical research, sliced heart tissue supports histopathology, assessment of myocardial injury and fibrosis, evaluation of therapeutic effects, and studies of cardiac physiology, providing spatial evidence that complements molecular and functional measurements.
