Multiparous Women

Multiparous women are women who have experienced two or more pregnancies reaching the stage of viability, a distinction that helps clinicians interpret obstetric history and plan care. Multiparity is determined by documenting pregnancy outcomes, including gestational age, delivery route, and whether births were singleton or multiple; it differs from gravidity, which counts all pregnancies. In medicine, this classification supports prenatal risk assessment, labor and delivery planning, and counseling by placing current findings within the patient’s reproductive history. Recording parity alongside prior complications, cesarean delivery, or pregnancy loss improves communication and helps guide individualized maternal and fetal monitoring.

We aim to identify the neural correlates underlying sustained and transient thought suppression, and thought re-emergence in controls, at-risk and depressed individuals. Activation was greatest for controls compared to the at-risk and the depressed group in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex during thought suppression and anterior cingulate cortex during thought re-emergence.
