Uc-crc Mouse Model

The Uc-CRC mouse model is an in vivo experimental system that mimics the development of ulcerative colitis-associated colorectal cancer, linking chronic intestinal inflammation with tumor formation. In a commonly used approach, azoxymethane (AOM) initiates colorectal carcinogenesis, while cycles of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) injure the colonic epithelium and induce relapsing inflammation; repeated repair and inflammatory signaling promote dysplasia and tumors. This model enables researchers to examine how colitis, immune responses, epithelial damage, and cancer progression interact. It also supports evaluation of preventive strategies, anti-inflammatory or anticancer treatments, and molecular pathways relevant to inflammation-driven colorectal cancer.
