Cell Recovery Rate

Cell recovery rate is the proportion of cells that remain viable and are successfully retrieved after isolation, processing, transport, or thawing, making it an important measure of sample quality and performance. It is typically calculated by comparing the number of viable cells recovered with the starting cell count, while membrane damage, apoptosis, osmotic stress, and handling conditions can reduce the result. In medicine, cell recovery rate supports quality control for biobanking, cell culture, transplantation, and cell-based therapies. Monitoring this metric helps researchers optimize protocols, improve reproducibility, and determine whether a preparation contains enough healthy cells for downstream analysis or treatment.

Reaction Rate

The rate of reaction is the change in the amount of a reactant or product per unit time. Reaction rates are therefore determined by measuring the time dependence of some property that can be related to reactant or product amounts. Rates of reactions that consume or produce gaseous substances, for example, are conveniently determined by measuring changes in volume or pressure. The mathematical representation of the change in the concentration of reactants and products, over time, is the rate...

Olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) are neural crest cells which allow growth of the primary olfactory neurons. This specific property can be used for cellular transplantation. We present here a model of cellular transplantation based on the use of OECs in a laryngeal nerve injury model.
