Endoscopic Endonasal Surgery

Endoscopic endonasal surgery is a minimally invasive technique that uses the nasal passages to access structures at the skull base, reducing the need for external incisions and extensive brain retraction. Surgeons guide a small endoscope and specialized instruments through the nasal cavity and sphenoid sinus, using angled visualization to reach regions such as the pituitary gland and anterior skull base. In neuroscience, the approach supports treatment of pituitary tumors, selected skull base lesions, and cerebrospinal fluid leaks. Its direct anatomical access, improved visualization, and potential for reduced tissue disruption have expanded surgical options while motivating advances in imaging, navigation, reconstruction, and postoperative care.

This study describes a standardized surgical procedure for single-port endoscopic axillary lymph node dissection without liposuction in breast cancer. Indicated for patients with biopsy-confirmed nodal metastasis or positive sentinel lymph nodes, the technique emphasizes preservation of critical structures, particularly the intercostobrachial nerve, to reduce postoperative morbidity and optimize functional recovery.

Full-Endoscopic Surgery for Hypothalamic Hamartoma Resection

2024

Hypothalamic hamartomas are rare, non-neoplastic congenital malformations mainly arising from the inferior hypothalamus or tuber cinereum. Surgical treatment is one of the most effective options, and the surgical approach must be precisely determined for each patient. Here, we describe the full-endoscopic technique for resecting hypothalamic hamartomas.
