Wheeled Carts

Wheeled carts are mobile platforms that use wheels to support and transport a load while reducing resistance to motion, making them useful models for studying fundamental physics. When a force acts on a cart, its acceleration depends on the net force and mass, while rolling friction, wheel rotation, and collisions influence how it moves. In physics investigations, carts help demonstrate Newton’s laws, conservation of momentum, energy transfer, and the effects of friction on level or inclined surfaces. By measuring position, velocity, and acceleration, students and researchers can test quantitative models of motion and evaluate how closely real systems follow idealized mechanical principles.

2025

Economic progress depends not only on labor and natural resources, but also on the strategic use of capital. In economics, capital refers to assets created by humans that are used in the production process. Unlike land or raw materials, capital must be produced before it can be employed. It spans a wide range of goods, including factory machinery, transport infrastructure, and digital platforms.Types and Functions of CapitalCapital can be divided into physical and intangible categories.

2016

This study presents an innovative running wheel-based animal mobility system to quantify an effective exercise activity in rats. A rat-friendly testbed is built, using a predefined adaptive acceleration curve, and a high correlation between the effective exercise rate and the infarct volume suggests the protocol's potential for stroke prevention experiments.

Recording and Analysis of Circadian Rhythms in Running-wheel Activity in Rodents

Circadian rhythms in voluntary wheel-running activity in mammals are tightly coupled to the molecular oscillations of a master clock in the brain. As such, these daily rhythms in behavior can be used to study the influence of genetic, pharmacological, and environmental factors on the functioning of this circadian clock.

Economic expansion over time depends not only on increasing inputs like labor and capital, but also on using them more effectively. Technology and innovation play a pivotal role in this efficiency gain. They allow economies to produce more output without proportional increases in input, a phenomenon captured by the concept of total factor productivity (TFP).Shifting the Production Possibility FrontierInnovations shift the production possibility frontier outward, meaning an economy can generate...

Wheels of Growth: Natural and Human Resources

The foundation of a country’s economic development often begins with its resource base, yet not all resources contribute equally to sustained growth. Two critical categories—natural resources and human resources—play distinct and sometimes complementary roles in shaping economic trajectories.Finite Resources and Economic VolatilityNatural resources, including fossil fuels, metals, arable land, and timber, can provide an immediate boost to national income. Countries with abundant reserves often...
