Appearance Reality

Appearance–reality is the psychological distinction between how events, objects, or situations seem and what they are based on more complete or objective information. Perception does not simply copy the environment; sensory input is filtered through attention, prior knowledge, expectations, and context, which can produce interpretations that differ from underlying conditions. Studying this distinction helps psychologists explain perceptual illusions, cognitive biases, misjudgments, and disagreements about everyday experiences. It also informs research on decision-making, social perception, education, and mental health by showing how interpretations shape behavior even when they do not accurately reflect reality.

2024

Brick durability, strength, and appearance are crucial factors in construction, influencing the choice of bricks for specific applications. The process of freeze-thaw, for instance, significantly affects brick durability. This phenomenon occurs when water absorbed by a brick expands as it freezes, potentially causing damage when it melts and refreezes. Bricks are graded for durability: SW-grade bricks are the most durable, offering high strength and low water absorption, followed by MW-grade...
