Excessive Frugality

Excessive frugality is a persistent pattern of extreme saving or spending avoidance that extends beyond practical financial caution and can impair well-being, relationships, or daily functioning. In psychology, it may arise when fear of scarcity, anxiety about losing resources, or rigid beliefs about money drive a person to prioritize avoiding expenditure despite reasonable needs or consequences. Studying this pattern helps distinguish adaptive budgeting from maladaptive behavior and clarifies how cognition, emotion, and past experiences shape financial decisions. Psychological assessment and cognitive-behavioral approaches can support more flexible beliefs, reduce distress, and improve decision-making while preserving responsible resource management.

The shape of a small drop of liquid can be considered spherical, neglecting the effect of gravity. This drop can further be considered as two equal hemispherical drops put together due to surface tension. The forces acting on the spherical drop are due to the pressure of the liquid inside the drop, the pressure due to air outside the drop, and the force due to the surface tension acting on the two hemispherical drops. where γ corresponds to the surface tension. Recalling that the force per...

Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) is often used to assess the hemodynamic circuit and detect the presence of venous congestion. The Venous Excess Ultrasound (VExUS) scoring system was developed to aid clinicians in predicting the impact of venous congestion on organ dysfunction. This article aims to describe VExUS image acquisition and interpretation.

Quantification of Drosophila melanogaster Grooming Behavior for Evaluation of Excessive Grooming Phenotypes
