Dental Anatomy

Dental anatomy is the study of the structure, form, and spatial relationships of teeth and the tissues that support them, providing a foundation for understanding oral function and health. Each tooth is organized into enamel, dentin, pulp, and cementum, while the periodontal ligament and alveolar bone anchor it within the jaw; together, these tissues withstand chewing forces, protect the pulp, and support sensation and repair. In biology and dentistry, dental anatomy guides identification of teeth, interpretation of normal development, and assessment of abnormalities such as caries, fractures, and malocclusion. This knowledge also informs preventive care, restorative treatment, orthodontics, and research on biomaterials and tissue regeneration.

The eye is a spherical, hollow structure composed of three tissue layers. The outer layer — the fibrous tunic, comprises the sclera — a white structure — and the cornea, which is transparent. The sclera encompasses some of the ocular surface, most of which is not visible. However, the 'white of the eye' is distinctively visible in humans compared to other species. The cornea, a clear covering at the front of the eye, enables light penetration. The eye's middle layer, the vascular tunic,...

Here's a detailed look at the anatomy of a human tooth. The Crown, Neck, and Root The visible part of the tooth is referred to as the crown. It's covered by enamel, the hardest substance in the human body. The crown is uniquely shaped for each type of tooth, allowing for different functions such as cutting, tearing, or grinding food.
