Surgical Suture Knots

Surgical suture knots are tied configurations used to secure sutures, approximate tissue, and maintain wound closure during or after an operation. They work by combining friction between the suture strands with the tension created by successive throws, while knot security depends on the suture material, knot structure, and applied load. In cancer research, reliable knot tying supports consistent closure of surgical wounds in animal models and clinical studies, including procedures involving tumor removal, biopsies, or implanted devices. Standardized technique can reduce closure-related variability, protect healing tissue, and improve the reproducibility of experimental outcomes.

Here, we introduce a novel approach-Laparoscopic Extracorporeal Knot-Tying for Uterine Vessel Occlusion during Hysterectomy with Cervical Cerclage in Large Uteri. A laparoscopic extracorporeal knot-pusher is used to perform cervical cerclage, achieving complete occlusion of uterine arteries. Thereafter, the corpus uteri are excised to enhance visibility and facilitate the operative field.
