Lc/ms Spectra

LC/MS spectra are analytical profiles that combine liquid chromatography (LC) separation with mass spectrometry (MS) detection to characterize chemical compounds in complex samples. During analysis, LC separates components according to their interactions with the mobile and stationary phases, while MS ionizes the eluting compounds and records ion intensity as a function of mass-to-charge ratio (m/z). The resulting spectra can reveal molecular masses, isotope patterns, and fragmentation products that support compound identification and structural analysis. In chemistry, LC/MS spectra are widely used for qualitative and quantitative analysis of pharmaceuticals, metabolites, environmental contaminants, and other mixtures.

Emission Spectra

When solids, liquids, or condensed gases are heated sufficiently, they radiate some of the excess energy as light. Photons produced in this manner have a range of energies, and thereby produce a continuous spectrum in which an unbroken series of wavelengths is present. In contrast to continuous spectra, light can also occur as discrete or line spectra having very narrow linewidths interspersed throughout the spectral regions. Exciting a gas at low partial pressure using an electrical current,...

Method for Recording Broadband High Resolution Emission Spectra of Laboratory Lightning Arcs

2019

Emission spectroscopy techniques have traditionally been used to analyze inherently random lightning arcs occurring in nature. In this paper, a method developed to obtain the emission spectroscopy from reproducible lightning arcs generated within a laboratory environment is described.

Viruses or extracellular vesicles were immunocaptured with 15 nm magnetic nanoparticles coupled to antibodies recognizing surface antigens. The captured virions or vesicles were labeled with fluorescent antibodies against other surface antigens. The resultant complexes were separated in high magnetic field and analyzed with conventional flow cytometers triggered on fluorescence.

Characterization of Biological Absorption Spectra Spanning the Visible to the Short-Wave Infrared

Biological samples have distinct optical characteristics in the short-wave infrared (SWIR) compared to the visible (VIS) and near-infrared (NIR) wavelength ranges. However, recording pure SWIR absorption spectra is challenging and rarely conducted for biological molecules. This article presents a method to characterize the VIS-SWIR absorption spectra of biological absorbers.
