Cell Marker Staining

Cell marker staining is a laboratory technique used to identify and characterize cells by detecting specific molecules on their surface or within them, making it important for profiling immune responses and infectious disease processes. The method uses antibodies or other binding probes directed against cellular markers, with fluorescent, enzymatic, or chromogenic labels producing a measurable signal when the probe binds its target. Researchers can combine multiple markers to distinguish immune cell populations, assess activation or differentiation, and track changes during infection, inflammation, or treatment. Results from microscopy or flow cytometry support diagnosis, pathogen-host interaction studies, and evaluation of therapeutic effects.
