Cycle Ergometer Exercise

Cycle ergometer exercise is a standardized form of aerobic activity performed by pedaling a stationary bicycle against controlled resistance, enabling precise assessment of physical workload and physiological responses. Researchers adjust resistance, cadence, duration, or intensity to produce reproducible exercise conditions while monitoring variables such as heart rate, oxygen consumption, and blood-based immune markers. In immunology and infection research, this approach helps examine how acute or repeated exercise influences leukocyte trafficking, inflammatory signaling, and host responses to infectious challenges. Its controlled design supports comparisons across participants and experiments, making it useful for studying exercise-related immune regulation and factors that may affect infection risk or recovery.
