Experimental Aki Model

An experimental acute kidney injury (AKI) model is a controlled laboratory system used to reproduce kidney damage and investigate how it develops, making it valuable for studying renal dysfunction in health and disease. Depending on the design, injury can result from ischemia, toxic exposure, infection, or other defined insults that impair tubular cells, disrupt filtration, and activate inflammatory signaling. In immunology and infection research, these models help examine cytokine production, innate immune-cell recruitment, host responses to pathogens, and interactions between systemic inflammation and renal injury. They also support evaluation of disease mechanisms, biomarkers, and potential therapeutic interventions.

Induction of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis in a Mouse Model

2025

In this video, a mouse model of multiple sclerosis is established using experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). The mouse is injected with an emulsion containing a neuronal peptide and an adjuvant, triggering an immune response that activates autoreactive T cells. This is followed by an injection of pertussis toxin (PTX) to increase blood-brain barrier permeability, allowing the autoreactive T-cells to infiltrate the brain. This infiltration initiates a signaling cascade that...

Induction of Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis in a Mouse Model

2025

The video demonstrates the induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in a mouse model by injecting a combination of myelin oligodendrocyte glycoproteins and inactivated Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The model enables researchers to study disease mechanisms and test therapeutic interventions.

Chemical-induced Two-stage Skin Carcinogenesis Model: An Experimental In Vivo Mouse Model of Skin Cancer

2023

This video describes the procedure to induce two-stage skin carcinogenesis to study tumor initiation by topical application of chemicals. In the first step, a mutagen, DMBA, is applied onto the skin of a mouse model which initiates tumor formation by causing mutations in the stem cells, followed by the application of a growth stimulator, TPA, which accelerates skin papilloma formation.

This manuscript describes the establishment of an infectious model of pneumonia in mice and the respective characterization of injury resolution along with methods for growing bacteria and intratracheal instillation. A novel approach using high-dimensional flow cytometry to evaluate the immune landscape is also described.
