Separating Ions with Ion-Exchange Columns

Description

Ion-exchange chromatography separates ions by how strongly they bind to a charged stationary phase. The stationary phase is a cross-linked polymer resin with covalently attached ionic groups. These groups may be positively charged or negatively charged, which creates cation exchangers and anion exchangers.
