The World Health Organization (WHO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Geneva. The WHO has many initiatives that center around health. Primarily, they lead global efforts to expand universal health coverage using science-based policies and programs. They are also responsible for shaping health research agendas and developing norms and standards.
The WHO provides expert team support, including funding, vaccines, testing, and treatment tools at the country level to fight against infectious diseases—for example, low-cost treatment services for HIV and tuberculosis.
Here are some other WHO initiatives:
The WHO, or the World Health Organization, is an international association that plays a significant role in public health by providing science-based policies and programs.
They promote optimum health worldwide by training healthcare workers, improving access to primary health care and essential medicines, coordinating health emergencies, and conducting health education and research programs.
The WHO addresses mental health awareness, and preventive measures for non-communicable diseases, and climate change issues.
They provide expert team support, including funding, vaccines, testing, and treatment tools at the national level to fight against infectious diseases.
Their Global Code of Practice reinforces the understanding and ethical management of recruitment through refined data, information, and global cooperation.
The WHO's Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery recommends an interrelated set of policies to assist countries in ensuring that nurses and midwives contribute optimally to achieving universal health goals.
Additionally, their Nursing and Midwifery Global Community of Practice is a virtual networking platform that allows nurses to connect globally with the WHO, other nurses, and essential stakeholders.
