Emotional stability helps nurses deal with traumatic situations—nurses must be empathetic to the pain and suffering of the patients while also providing comfort.
Nurses must be flexible with the demands of the job and have the physical endurance to complete their daily tasks, which may include standing and working for long hours.
Problem-solving skills are needed for addressing tricky situations and responding quickly during an emergency.
Additionally, yet importantly, nurses must treat people with respect and abide by the rules and regulations of the profession. They should remain impartial and be mindful of confidentiality.
Apart from these attributes, a nurse should have a knowledge-based practice. For example, if a situation calls for an evaluation of the prognosis of a clinical condition, the nurse will need to understand the condition and the probabilities of its progression.
