Urinary system disorders can arise from infections, stress, age, congenital abnormalities, and lifestyle.
Urinary tract infections are typically caused by infectious bacteria entering the urethra. They can spread to the bladder, resulting in cystitis and pyelonephritis of the renal pelvis.
An infection in the glomeruli may cause glomerulonephritis. This inflammation of the glomeruli can also result from autoimmune disorders.
Dehydration, certain medications, and dietary habits may lead to hard deposits of substances, such as calcium, oxalate, or urate, that form kidney stones.
These stones can cause urinary tract obstructions that prevent normal urine flow.
Abnormal cell growth and tumors in the bladder or kidneys may also be another cause of urinary tract obstructions.
Weakened pelvic floor muscles, nerve damage to the pelvic region, chronic stress, and surgery can affect the bladder and sphincters, causing urinary incontinence or involuntary leakage of urine.
