Collection Overview

The knee joint is the most important joint of the human body, with complex anatomic structures and significant function. With the acceleration of population aging and the popularization of sports, the morbidity of knee joint disease keeps rising every year. The knee surgery has also developed rapidly these years with many creative surgical methods and concepts came out. Especially, many advanced new technologies have promoted the development of knee surgery, such as orthopaedic robots, navigation systems, 3D printing devices, VR and AR technology. In this special topic, we aim to collect innovative methods related to knee surgery. The aspects include but not limit to (1) Knee arthroplasty: TKA, UKA and revision surgery, (2) Knee joint preservation surgery: Osteotomy around the knee, external fixation, etc., (3) Ligament or soft tissue repair and reconstruction surgery of the knee: ACL reconstruction, meniscus, and cartilage repair, etc., (4) Fracture around the knee joint: tibial plateau fracture, distal femur fracture, patella fracture, periprosthetic fracture, etc., (5) Surgeries for patellofemoral joint disorders, (6) Tumor resection and reconstruction around the knee, (7) Pediatric knee surgeries and, (8) modeling and computational simulation, new development of knee implants.
