Nanotechnology and material science polarized the attention of the scientific community in the last thirty years. With the goal of increasing the efficacy and the safety of very toxic therapeutics, nanomedicine field has allowed the generation of hundreds of delivery systems formulated in the nanoscale to deliver the therapeutics only to the sick tissues while sparing healthy organs. The result of this intense work was the clinical implementation of over thirty therapeutics, including new generations of vaccines. In addition, nanoparticles became a valuable tool to perform investigation in cell and molecular biology, supporting the discovery of immunological and endocytic pathways. Different delivery systems, including lipid, protein, inorganic, and polymeric particles, could implement the research of many laboratories all over the world that are currently not familiar with their synthesis and characterization. However, the reproducibility of these technologies between different laboratories could be difficult to achieve, since the same technology can be generated with different protocols, affecting its final chemical, physical, and drug delivery properties. The goal of Methods Collection is to collect protocols of nanoparticle fabrication and characterization to increase nanotechnology knowledge and accessibility in the scientific community.
