Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death globally and accounts for 1 in 5 deaths. By the time early signs and symptoms of CVD emerge, irreversible organ damage has often occurred. It imposes a significant societal and economic burden globally. Because heart disease is complex and multifactorial, the underlying mechanisms are not entirely understood.
Although numerous research strategies have contributed significantly to the field's advancement, effective treatments are still lacking. Current clinical strategies are designed for disease management rather than curing them. The development of clinically relevant animal models, the application of a systems biology approach, and novel tools and strategies to study cellular and molecular mechanisms are crucial to developing effective therapies.
This Methods Collection comprises a diverse array of innovative, reproducible, cutting-edge research tools, encompassing large and small animal models, cell culture, organ on chips, high-throughput studies, and drug discovery. These tools are essential for achieving groundbreaking advancements in the field. This collection aims to serve as a resource for researchers by compiling standardized, reproducible protocols and the most recent innovations in CVD research.
