Ao Gu received his MB degree in Clinical Medicine from Hebei University Health Science Center and is presently engaged in the pursuit of a doctoral degree at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, under the mentorship of Professor Yingbin Liu. His research endeavors predominantly revolve around the investigation of the therapeutic capabilities exhibited by antitumor-active molecules. Six SCI papers have been published in related fields, with a total impact factor of 53.5
In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the limited relevance and reproducibility of cell lines and cell line-derived in vivo models in clinical studies. Consequently, a range of patient-derived in vivo and in vitro models, such as patient-derived xenografts (PDXs), patient-derived organoids (PDOs), tumor cell lines (PDCs), and patient-derived explants (PDEs), have emerged. These models have been well applied in basic and clinical medical research, offering a more accurate representation of tumor microenvironment heterogeneity, whether genetic or immunological.
This Methods Collection focuses on the construction, functional validation, and mechanistic understanding of patient-derived methods. Through this collection, we intend to present these experimental techniques in a highly accessible and comprehensible audio-visual format. We believe this will ultimately help advance the cancer research process and break the translation barriers from basic to clinical medical research.
