Experimental animal models are invaluable for creating treatment models and developing biomarkers and diagnostic measures. Nearly 89% of Nobel Prizes awarded in Medicine and Physiology, one of the most prestigious science awards, have been based on animal studies, emphasizing the leading role of this field in making groundbreaking discoveries. Although humans and animals have distinct appearances, their anatomical, physiological, and genetic similarities provide an advantage for transferring these studies to the clinic. Using model organisms, inflammatory diseases such as sepsis, neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, mood disorders such as schizophrenia and depression, and clinical cases like cancer and epilepsy are studied. These models include both spontaneous and inducible models, as well as genetic manipulations. The scope of this Methods Collection is to compile research involving the modeling of various diseases with experimental animals.
