Dr. Gulten Ates Ulucay is an assistant professor in the field of Physiology at Istanbul Yeni Yuzyil University, Faculty of Medicine. She has been focusing her studies on sepsis and experimental medicine since her postgraduate education. Dr. Ates who completed her master's and doctorate education in the Department of Physiology, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University and continues her studies with her team in the university, has conducted many studies such as inflammatory pathways in sepsis, oxidant-antioxidant system, mitochondrial complexes, sepsis-related muscular damage, multiple organ damage and failure, apoptosis, profiling of electrolytes, trace elements and high-energy components in various tissues in sepsis, sepsis-related encephalopathy and the definition and effectiveness of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. She has also used many therapeutic pathways such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and stimulation of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway as targets. She continues to work on sepsis models in experimental animals using many molecular techniques and imaging methods.
