The development of effective therapies for neurological disorders remains challenging due to the complexity of the central nervous system, limited therapeutic access across the blood-brain barrier, and difficulties translating experimental findings into clinically relevant interventions. This Topical Collection will highlight innovative and reproducible experimental approaches used to develop, deliver, and evaluate neurotherapeutic strategies.
The collection will feature methods spanning therapeutic discovery, drug delivery, cellular and neurovascular models, and experimental evaluation of therapeutic efficacy and safety. Topics may include blood-brain barrier and neurovascular unit models, nanoparticle and nanoemulsion-based delivery systems, bioactive and small-molecule therapeutics, biologics, in vitro models of neurodegenerative and cerebrovascular disease, therapeutic screening, imaging approaches, molecular and cellular assays, and methods for evaluating neuroprotective and disease-modifying effects.
Particular emphasis will be placed on experimental methods that address translational barriers in neurotherapeutic development and can be adapted across neurological disease models and therapeutic platforms. By bringing together methodologies from neuroscience, pharmacology, drug delivery, bioengineering, and related disciplines, the collection aims to facilitate methodological innovation, improve reproducibility, and promote more effective translation of therapeutic discoveries.
The visual format of JoVE provides an especially valuable platform for demonstrating complex experimental workflows and technical procedures that are difficult to fully convey through traditional written protocols. This collection will provide researchers with practical, reproducible methods that can accelerate the development and evaluation of emerging neurotherapeutic strategies.
