Prasoon did his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from Birla Institute of Technology, MESRA, Ranchi, in the Department of Biotechnology from 2004-2008. Thereafter, he pursued a Master of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, in the area of Bioengineering with a specialization in tissue engineering and biomechanics from 2008-2010. Then, he worked at the Computational Instrumentation division of the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (A CSIR lab), Chandigarh, from 2010-2011 in an area of biomedical signal and image processing in collaboration with the Centre for Dental Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Thereafter, he pursued a joint PhD program at IITB-Monash Research Academy (Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and Monash University, Clayton, Melbourne, Australia) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, specializing in design engineering from 2011-2018. He worked at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, to pursue his post-doctoral training in the Department of Materials Engineering in the area of Organ-on-chip devices from 2017-2019. Later, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Devices at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research-Ahmadabad from 2019-2020. In June 2020, he joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Medical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. He has published over 25 articles in peer-reviewed journals and filed for over 5 patents. His research area includes micromanufacturing, additive manufacturing, biomaterials, diagnostic devices and advanced materials. His lab focuses on developing innovative devices by employing design principles, materials understanding and manufacturing processes to address healthcare challenges.
