Dr. Mohammad Nezhady is a postdoctoral fellow at McGill University. He completed his master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven, where he investigated the epigenetics of embryonic development. Subsequently, he obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Montreal, working under the supervision of Prof. Sylvain Chemtob, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a pioneer in Nuclear GPCRs. For his Ph.D., Dr. Mohammad Nezhady focused on studying the nuclear localization and function of the lactate GPCR, HCAR1, in the context of cancer. He discovered that this GPCR is present in the nucleus, where it signals intranuclearly and is involved in non-classical GPCR functions. Dr. Mohammad Nezhady publicized the location-biased signaling of GPCRs and proposes the location-biased activity of GPCR as a separate mechanism of GPCR function opposed to their classical signaling. His primary research interests include GPCRs, signaling, epigenetics and pioneering factors, as well as cancer, stem cell, and regenerative biology.
